Accessibility statement
Fichtefreunde – Förderverein Fichtenberg-Gymnasium e. V. wants www.fichtefreunde.de to be usable by everyone. This statement describes where the site stands, lists the content that is not yet accessible, and tells you how to report a barrier.
Scope and legal basis
This statement covers the website www.fichtefreunde.de in German and English. No law requires this website to be accessible: the rules for public bodies (Berlin’s BIKTG Bln, BITV 2.0) do not apply to a private association, and Germany’s Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG) exempts micro-enterprises that provide services (section 3(3) BFSG). As the booster club of a school that specializes in teaching blind and visually impaired students, we publish this statement voluntarily. We measure the site against EN 301 549, the European standard public bodies use for their websites, which incorporates WCAG 2.1 at level AA.
Conformance status
This website partially conforms with WCAG 2.1 level AA: in our checks the pages themselves meet the criteria; the content listed below does not yet fully.
Among other things:
- Text has a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1, large text at least 3:1, and the borders of form fields at least 3:1, in both light and dark mode. You can switch the color scheme at the top of every page.
- Everything works with a keyboard, including the menu and submenu, search, the donation form and all other forms. Focus is always visible, and a skip link takes you straight to the main content.
- Forms also work without JavaScript. Every field has a label, and error messages appear as text next to the field.
- Images have text alternatives, headings and tables are marked up as such, and every page declares its language.
- Pages adapt to any screen size, from 320 pixels wide without horizontal scrolling, including with increased line, word and letter spacing.
- If you turn on “reduce motion” in your system settings, the animations stop.
Content that is not accessible
Documents. The eight PDF documents on the “Documents” and “Donate” pages (bylaws, membership fee regulations, data protection rules, sustainability guidelines, minutes of the general meeting and the simplified donation receipts) have a text layer but no tags and no declared language. Screen readers read the text aloud, but not its structure of headings, lists and tables. If you need the content of a document in another format, write to us (see below), and we’ll send it to you as text.
Card payments. Donations by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay go through Stripe’s payment page. Stripe designs that page, and its accessibility is outside our checks. You can also donate by bank transfer: the IBAN and payment reference appear as text on the page, next to a GiroCode.
Merch shop. We run the merch shop at fichte.shop on SumUp’s platform. SumUp determines its design, and this statement does not cover it. If you run into a barrier there, write to us.
Other. On the home page, a word below the main heading changes in a typewriter animation that cannot be paused; with “reduce motion” turned on, the first word stays put. Without JavaScript, the menu does not open on narrow screens; you can reach every page through the links in the footer.
How this statement was prepared
This statement was prepared on November 2, 2026. It is based on an assessment in November 2026 by Digital Domination LLC, which maintains the site, using automated checks (Lighthouse, axe) and manual keyboard, focus and contrast checks in light and dark mode. We review it once a year and whenever the site changes substantially.
